I generally enjoy movie adaptations that aren't true to the book. I didn't mind Percy Jackson or John Carter, but this...is not enjoyable even on its own, and this is coming from someone who doesn't particularly like the books. The dramatic moments of the film seem to be stolen from better movies, especially near the end where Holly gets a standing ovation and praise from her boss. The rescue of Fowl's dad seems like a cheat, and the rest of the picture resembles a video game. I gave two stars because it has interesting visual effects.
