This was so bad. The Timothy Chalamet boy they chose was the worst choice for Willy Wonka. 0 of the "darkness", 0 of the quirkiness of the Jene Wilder or Johnny Depp characters. They actually took the magic away, and showed how everything is an illusion and the hard work of people to make it seem magical. The "villains" were actually great actors and outperformed Chalamet every time they were on screen. But even their dance routine, their big finale, they were off center and i can't believe they let that in the movie. The main girl was unremarkable, and her backstory is a literal afterthought that gets 20 seconds of coverage. The only cool things were his automated luggage and it was all CGI. You only see the oompa loompa a few times. No backstory except a 7 second clip. This movie was really weird. I have no idea why they made it. It was not a good addition to the Wonka storyline. Seriously this is not a "Wonka" movie. I'm glad I went by myself first because I'm definitely not taking my kids. It was so bad lol
