Old Dads has a very promising premise and you may recognise current societal issues in some of the initial gags, but it quickly descends into a clown-like caricature of liberals. Far from being a comedy, the film is 100 minutes of punishment with self-righteous psychopats humiliating the main characters and getting away with criminal behaviour. The plot is exaggerated to the point that becomes ridiculous and difficulty believable. The movie will leave you feeling upset and frustrated. There is also nothing to be learned here because there is no attempt to bridge the generational or societal gaps, just a blanket condamnation of ecology and tolerance.

(Contains spoilers) How disappointing ! As a huge fan of the Last Kingdom series, I was very exicted to see the movie that would wrap everything up. I understand that finding a new plot was not easy and I don't think anyone really wanted a drawn out fight between Aethelstan and his half-brother. I also don't have any problem at all with the writers making Aethelstan gay. Why not, there have been gay kings throughout history. The big problem with this movie is that the writers have completely perverted his character. The boy who was brought up by Uthred and whose ability to see clearer than most is turned into a dim-witted tyrant who is prepared to kill and murder for the sake of a lover. This lover in turn is a very uninteresting character, whose motivations for murder and destruction turn out to be rather pathetic and hardly believable. During the first half of the movie, Uthred appears to be an unready innocent, shocked again and again by the crazy decisions of Aethelstan. The nations of Scotland and Wales, which were so proud and strong in TLK also just accept humiliation and taxes without a fight. It is also sad that there are no strong female characters in the movie, even though they were essential to every season of the series. The ending does bring some comfort as Aethelstan regains his brains and Uthred is awaited in glory at Valhalla. Overall, the movie is frustrating and does not respect the legacy nor the storylines of the series.

The Strays touches on some very important themes of indentity and fitting into society as a visible minority. As a bi-racial man, I found that this movie unfortunately only uses this theme as an excuse for an odd and cringey storyline, filled with caricatures and horror-like cinematography. But confronting your past life, identity and the children you left behind is not like evading zombies. The charity party blow up is particularly nonsensical and lacks credibility. This was a missed opportunity for real emotions and an intelligent confrontation of two parts of the modern British society.

In spite of the name and trailer, this is not at all a light-hearted comedy. It is a very poorly scripted tragedy. The plots don't make much sense and are sometimes just plain dumb. And just as the movie is supposed to take off with carrying out the list, the wannabe girlfriend comes up with some crazy story about having been molested as a child by her step dad. She solves this life long issue by smashing up his car, which makes her ecstatically happy. You end up desperately waiting for the main character to actually say "F IT", but he just sits around moping and being depressed throughout the movie. He throws away his golden path and faces 0 consequences. The idea for the movie was good but it was poorly executed and utterly fails to deliver either comedy or any genuine message.

I loved every second of Coco and can watch it over again and again. It is a beautiful tribute to Mexico and mexican culture but also reaches over to people from all cultures as it brings to "life" the relationships between the living and those departed and emphasises the importance of remembering loved ones in your family. The movie manages to do this without ever becoming creepy, dark or pathetic. It is about music, family, love and reaching out for your dreams.
