This movie was okay, but probably better suited to Netflix than the theater. The plot is thin and redundant. I suppose the actors did the best with the roles. And, there is a LOT of drugs, blood and gore.

It was entertaining, but really predictable. For me, none of the actors were stand-outs although they played their roles adequately. The best part was that we were at IMAX and close and so the special effects were awesome. Also, a little scary since I have family in Oklahoma and live in Texas and we have this threat every spring. There's a dearth of movies that even warrant a theater visit in my view, but this one is worth seeing.

Why does this man keep getting to make movies??? So tired of makeovers, redos, superhero and bad movies. Why can't ever just go see a great movie these days??

This movie was one of the best I've seen. As someone who raised two sons on my own, Teyana captured the struggle for trying to create a life when you are on the verge of poverty. I kept thinking it would move into stereotype and it surprised me each time. I think the end suited the movie, by not wrapping it up with the kind of romanticized idealism that is too often characteristic in movies and novels.

I just watched the film. It was an intriguing interpretation of the a book that would be impossible to capture on film in a way that would meet the expectations of it's readers. It's definitely not for the weak of heart and still does illustrate the chilling legacy of enslavement. I am from Kentucky and my ancestors were enslaved there so it does hit quite close to home for me.

Heartbreaking. Took me back to the 70's when I was a high-schooler. It is telling how they were able to cover their depravity with an acceptable sheen of respectability, something I suspect is still occurring now in certain circles. The testimony of the first girlfriend and Micki were especially moving. I definitely believe them. A slide into dark behavior is inevitable when you are in a position such as Hefner's. Interesting now that young people think that they will escape these same kinds of regrets if they are in control of selling themselves in a similar fashion on video or live feeds, etc. But in any case there is exploitation involved and regret is inevitable with greater maturity and awareness of the world and themselves.
