ok, i admit it, i didn't get to read the book or watch the netflix show of the same name. Why? As an englishman i could not get over the hysterical reaction of the crowd when this woman appeared on the stage. It was without a shadow of a doubt an Oprah Winfrey moment. They cheered, they clapped, they were beaming smiles from ear to ear, but the applause went in, and on, and on, and on, is it ever going to stop. This woman is a writer not an actress, or do the two merge nowadays. She is a celebrity for sure with a this over the top audience. But wait, now she is doing the stand up comedian thing, did i miss the switch? It seems no matter what she says they can't stop beaming and cheering. Why do americans need to create idols? What is the matter with these people. Picture this if you will. In England, she enters the stage, people clap, and politely stop clapping. There is no whistling through half closed hands, there is no cheering and beaming verging on manic. There is no punching your fist in the air tom cruise style. I couldn't take that book seriously any more. I feel traumatised already. thank you, i'm sure it's a very good book.
