A great platform for a new series. Let’s not get too soft-hearted foe the poor billionaire oil men (John Hamm wringing his hands over $750k bereavement payment after Billy Bob’s opening voiceover on episode 1 about how much money they make a day) . Taylor is getting a bit over the top with the hyper-glorification of the blue collar (“thank your husband for what he does” about Rip the cowboy…truly not a profession of heroes) worker. Yes, oil rig men work hard, and earn the pay. But a lamdman is not even an anti-hero.

The movie is as advertised in that it is wide and vast. A bit of a slow starter. There are so many story lines that it is tough to follow. I am sure the stories come together as more movies come out, but it is a bit splintered right as of now.

Hugely explosive and full of exciting action. Mamoa delivers as a funny, strong, and confident savior of the seven seas. As the franchise grows more of Aquaman’s powers and ability to interact with ocean life will add to the legend. Must see!
