This is a subtle yet powerful film, it's just BEAUTIFUL. Vikrant Massey, as always, nails his role as Shutu and that even makes you cry at one point as it makes you realize that, all some people want is to be understood and loved. I love Vikrant Massey and could personally relate to his character in A Death in the Gunj. His portrayal of the shy Shutu is just too.. good and lovable!
Also, the very title of the film is intriguing. It's gripping right from the start. The narrative is perfect! Konkona Sen Sharma proves her talent yet again, this time from behind the camera. The 1979 setup, the location, the acting, the story-line, the quiet yet captivating flow of the movie - marvellous! This is one of the best movies ever made in India and a must watch!
