If you enjoyed The Fosters, don't watch this spin-off show.
The Fosters covered plenty of real-life challenges, subjects, and topics in a reasonable, sensible, decent, and extremely realistic manner without too much dramatization. It even handles time jumps in the family life at the very end extremely well. The Fosters was fantastic for many seasons focusing on family and community and growing up no matter the audience's age. It is a wonderful show for many.
However...
Good Trouble, on the other hand, is too over the top with its dramatization. By comparison, it is as if the writers had no clue what happened in the preceding show. It suddenly drops the storyline of the main characters bridging from The Fosters (Mariana and Callie) and replaces them with cheap theater. It is extremely judgemental and whining rather than empowering and helpful in handling subjects and life challenges. The challenges the characters often face are also largely due to their ridiculous actions and *face palm-worthy* decisions. They randomly switch up character personalities in wild swings, drastically altering their personas and ethics in an unbelievable narrative.
It's largely unrealistic and a bit delusional at times at capturing a young lifestyle post-college. Every single episode is over the top immature, and not even laughably bad. It's extremely cringing and unreasonable with its outlook on life and its characters.
The character development is as if 12-year-olds wrote it in bad fanfic about California and politics rather than 23-35-year-olds wading their way knee deep in adulthood. It's less about character development and a lot about following these poor life choices presented; otherwise, you're not a good person or a cool person. The choices and stances also change constantly, making it hard to follow—terrible trouble. Huge letdown. Big mistake. Horrible show.
