Besides being a great story teller, Faulkner can be laugh-out-loud funny. This is a stand alone book; you don't have to know about the other residents of Yoknapatawpha County to enjoy it. The movie isn't totally faithful to the book, but it's a lot of fun.

My copy is falling to pieces. This is the best cookbook ever for vegetables, arranged in alphabetical order from asparagus to zucchini, including everything from appetizers to desserts. My copy says Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1982, so it may be an older version.
