I am saddened to watch Chris Matthews resign tonight, after 20 years of lively spirited political conversation and analysis. His experience as a young Peace Corps volunteer informed much of his empathetic approach to our own fragile democracy, and I also was of his generation that hid under school desks during the Cuban missile crisis, and lived thru castro and Ortega and Chavez and Pinochet, etc. His response to "socialism" as represented by Bernie Sanders mirrors the response many of us older Americans have to the real life failures and fears that past Socialist regimes have punished their populations with in the post cold war era. I will miss Chris Matthews, his heartfelt remarks that he ended each show with....thoughtful & cautionary, but always in defense of democracy. Happy retirement for you and all your lovely family. Look forward to more books. I loved Bobby Kennedy and your book about him. Thank you.
