The first Strike book I've read - and I will now be getting the rest. A real page turner. The main characters - Robin & Strike - are vibrantly alive, as are the backstories interlaced with the crimes & troubles the agency investigates. I've viewed lots of different theories on the themes behind the book. It's now glaringly obvious that they were either from people that hadn't read it, or were primed to view it a certain way. For me, the underlying theme is an exploration of human complexity - fragilities, egos, values, relationships, assumptions, etc. And it's very well-done. Compelling.
