My biggest gripe with this film is how tacky it is. It is chock full of clichés, jump scares, and plot twists you can tell they thought were clever but were all either predictable, lackluster, or just confusing.
I thought the actual idea was good but it didn’t seem thought out and the plot was kind of just stumbled through. It made the film seem a lot longer than it actually was because it felt like they were trying to cover all bases when they really should have just focused on their one good original idea.
I’ll give it an extra star due to myself being caught out by a couple of jump scares, the soundtrack, and the fact that I actually liked the slightly more creative way the gateway was sealed even if it was immediately followed with cliché.
