I don't even know how to begin. I live in the United States, and I always thought that this country was the ideal role model. After watching this show, I have such a different perspective. Not just about New York, but the United States as a whole. I can't even face the fact that Donald Trump is our president, and was also the man who wanted a death penalty against 5 innocent men. I can't even write in words about how much respect and attention this show deserves. I never even knew about this case until I watched the show, and now I can't stop researching and reading about it. I'm disgusted by the fact that people actually believed that Korey Wise, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, Antron McCray, and Kevin Richardson were guilty with no proof, and were sent to jail for it. The only proof was the confession tapes that were made, which the 5 boys who were only kids were coerced into making. I just see all of us in a new way. I mean, how could we do this to 5 innocent boys who had a bright future ahead of themselves? I absolutely despise Donald Trump, Linda Fairstein, Elizabeth Lederer, and the rest of the NYPD for throwing away children's lives like it was nothing. Ava DuVernay captured the whole thing with such talent and emotion in only 4 episodes. I'm still shocked by the nation, despite the fact that this event occurred 30 years ago. It really hit me when I found out that 5 young boys grew up in prison for a crime that they didn't commit. If I could turn back time, the first thing I would do is make sure that these 5 innocent boys didn't go to prison for the assault and rape of Trisha Meili.
