I think this is a game you will 100% be interested in or not.
Personally, I tend to like D&D style campaigns with some objectives, a bit of randomness, story arcs, character development etc.
That said and 16 hours in; Elden ring is less intricate than I would have liked both story wise and in terms of battle tactics; the latter being most bothersome as I usually spend the majority of a fight sequence laughably rolling away from any adversary until there's an opening to exploit.
Also without a riveting plot then, of course, there is a lack of character development, which for me, means there's zero emotional investment in seeing the protagonist succeed.
Many enjoy the mystique of this sprawling open world and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that sort of explorative spirit. It also may be that 16 hours isn't long enough to give Elden Ring a fair shake. But, for now, my opinion is i simply prefer setting clear goals from the outset of an adventure and to have a human investment in achieving them in whatever way is found to be most entertaining.
This is just not that type of game.
