¬¬¬¬¬¬Taking Flight Short film Review By Antoine Dong The movie is a realistic fiction story about a kid and his grandpa going out for an imagination ride on an old wagon. The wagon can’t turn into a plane or a boat and monkeys aren’t black and red eyes. Taking flight takes place first in a car, then in an imagery place. At the start, the kid’s dad had work to do, so he sends the kid (the main character) off at his grandpa’s house. The kid found a small wagon with a picture in it while his grandpa was mowing the lawn, his grandfather told him that it was his dad’s small wagon. The kid went on the small wagon and his grandpa took him out for a ride, then they used their imagination for an exciting ride. The movie starts with a kid in a car, his dad is driving him to his grandpa’s place. The kid looked really sad like that he didn’t want to go there, he wanted to stay with his dad and play with his dad. His dad dropped him off in a hurry because of a call, his dad said that they will play again sometime later. His grandpa was happy to see him again, grandpa said to him, “Wait here after I finish the lawn mowing, it’ll be soon.” His grandpa went to lawn mowing, while his grandpa is mowing, he found a red wagon with his dad’s old picture. His grandpa found out what he was doing, then came and told him about the wagon and decided to take him for a ride. They used their imagination to have an amazing space adventure. The message for the short film is about never being too worry about what is going to happen. Always try to be happy and not be scared of something that won't happen. The kid started in a car worried about what he was going to do when in his grandpa’s house. This film should get 4 stars. It’s a heartwarming story about a kid and his grandpa, but the message wasn't very clear. Not a lot of people can figure out the message if it was not told to them .
