I give The Owl House five stars because it has everything I look for in a show. Amazing scenes, fantastic world-building, dark-gritty bits, and cute moments between characters. The animation here is amazing, and it surprises you in moments like Lilith and Eda's fights in the finale of season 1. All the characters are well meshed out and you can see them growing and changing before you. More so for some than for others.
I noticed quite a few commenters said that Luz was too impulsive and not quite as well done as other characters, and that's kind of true in the beginning. As time goes on though, especially in season two, she becomes more cautious. Like on the episode of Lumity's first kiss, which I won't spoil because it was amazing. You can tell that the things happening here and things from the past like Young Blood, Old Souls, are still affecting her character. Another win for character developement!
Gus and Willow, Luz's friends, are also wonderful characters to get to know. I love watching Gus figure out that he's a lot more impressive than he thinks. And Willow figuring out how to stand up for herself, while simultaneously being the ongoing voice of reason. Willow and Amity's backstory kicked, and Gus's growth spurt caught me off guard in so many ways.
Hunter and Amity, Luz's bother figure and girlfriend, have some of the more dramatic character growths. With Amity going from Luz's bully to girlfriend, and never giving the feeling that she should be forgiven just for having a tragic backstory. She earned forgiveness and her newfound place as Luz's awesome girlfriend. Hunter... he's still getting there. But he and Rascal have one of the cutest relationships in the whole show!
Finally Lilith, Eda, and King, Luz's roommates/magical found family. Eda and King have an amazing dynamic, and I love seeing Luz get added in to that. Eda went from crummy mentor to learning how to parent. If her and Rain don't get together I'm gonna cry. King went from being the adorable fluff piece to tragic backstory boy, and the flow was so natural it swept me off my feet.
All in all the Owl House is a great show that should definitely be getting more seasons, and I recommend you check it out.
