The film understandably concentrates on the astounding rescue of the boys, leaving the first third a little flat, in my opinion, in its seemingly impatient attempts to get to that point. Having said that this does not detract from what is not only an amazing rescue story but an intelligently portrayed insight into the dilemma any of us would face in balancing the worth of our own lives against others.

i did not close my eyes for one second, which , as someone who more often than not uses the darkness of a cinema to grab fourty winks, is praise indeed. Brilliant acting and all the horror of the war without the melodrama. Awesome
