Acting was excellent. Visually lovely. Dialogue okay. Sound great.
Those were the pluses, but overall I massively disliked this movie.
First point of contention - the portrayal via clips/trailers completely misrepresented this movie. It would be a difficult movie to create a preview for, but even with that consideration it was hugely misleading.
On a basic review note, it felt disjointed and the timeline was a baffling choice. It felt like a student draft script that somehow got professional execution. The great handling couldn't overcome the lack of foundation. Maybe it's partly a problem of the medium - the topics were too numerous and challenging to all be jumbled into one film.
Felt like a revenge fantasy that really just consisted of (SPOILERS)
Women harming one another and themselves to get a result that wasn't particularly satisfying. Them supporting one another in the end by playing one part each was beautiful and one of many (too) obvious thematic elements - but surely the real punishment would be to make it so he could watch them play but not hear? The end was just them performing for him which was exactly what he wanted in the first place. It's still all about him. The one girl still has no hand, and she now loves and appreciates this new torturer, under the guise that some new trauma is what it took to see the truth? There's a ton wrong with all of this, and that's just a shallow dive. Plot and themes were hugely problematic. A mess.
