The pace of the film gives room for the drama that emerges through well-placed intelligence from all the characters with Roberta almost outdoing Alice. Alice in a bid to reconnect with her college friends insists on having a drink with Roberta who turns the offer down, twice. While clearly Alice seems to have the whole thing planned out gets the time to reconcile with her....but Roberta is something else.
