SPOILERS AHEAD
I would give it 3.5 stars because I think it's more accurate. First off, this is not what you'd expect from a Michael Myers film. It does some things differently that work well, others that don't. The main detractors for me was the love story between Allyson and Corey seemed unrealistically accelerated, and some of the things she said didn't really match with how I perceived her character in the previous 2 films. Also the ease with which Corey was able to Michael's mask was total b.s. I didn't even necessarily have a problem with him coming out on top, it just was another thing that seemed to not have the right development. And if I have to read one more review where people try to make the Sewer scene where Corey and Michael look at each out to be something supernatural I'm going to lose it. Michael sees himself in Corey's eyes, and it's a nod to the beginning of Halloween Kills where the cop said Michael would just stare out the window. Every supernatural allusion in this new trilogy was playing in people's perceptions of MM, a subtle 4th wall break to tease people about MM being more than he actually is and always has been. Great movie if you can approach it knowing it's not going to be more of the same.
