This game can be brutal and punishing, there's no shame in turning down the difficulty if you are having such a stressful time that it gets in the way of playing.
That said, Pathologic 2 has the best worldbuilding i've ever seen in a game. I haven't played a game before or since that made me feel like i'm visiting a real place with mysteries, culture, and hidden allegiances. It is narratively engaging in a way that feels more like a novel than most games. Its secrets tug at the imagination. The closest i've played is 'Fallen London' or 'This War of Mine'.
The way the story unfolds a real treat, there's really something quite magical about the atmosphere of this game.
I got stuck in a death loop on my first play through. I tried again a year later after reading a handful of guides on how to not starve, and I'm so glad I did.
