honest opinion: this anime contains very disturbing images and triggering to some viewers who may have experienced rape and abuse. this is not very suitable for viewers under the age of 18. however, due to its gore and graphic visuals, i would say that this anime has depicted realism in terms of an innocent girl with a loss of hope and companionship. i would say that this anime wouldn’t be so politically correct today because of the depictions of neglect and child labor but it’s exemplifies a scenario that would happen in reality. i enjoyed watching this anime mainly because of the visuals and the dark storyline. it is depicted really well, considering it was based on a novel where most of its parts were lost and destroyed overtime.
