The acting in this film was top notch. Cole and Katie have a great chemistry. Liz in her Hollywood debut kills it. It’s great to see someone from the Filipino film industry get an opportunity, and she delivers. Great fashion attire. Although the pacing could have been better, Director Zelda Williams captures the 80’s aesthetic & look. This is older film making with make up and 80’s special effect. Cody Diablo hired a good acting & directing team that upgraded her story.

It’s about time. Finally a creative original horror thriller. I went to Junior high in the 70’s & this storytelling is accurate about the bullying, the tv shows, such as the sisters reference to Danny from the Partridge family, & Dave’s and His Dog Goliath Show. The songs also caught the mood during those times. Ethan Hawke shows his talent as the killer, and his range as an actor. The audience went wild and cheered/clapped at the end. Rare occurrence these days. A must see.

I went with my 18 year old daughter and we both really enjoyed this film. We saw them in concert at the LA forum 2 years ago & have seen much of the footage in the movie but to us it was a 5 year anniversary celebrations & we thought it was well done. The separate comments all four make individually speaks volumes about the challenges they are facing through your journey. They live in South Korea where there isn’t a lot to do especially with the pandemic status. In the last few weeks I went to the Dodger game, LA Galaxy game, & went twice for lunch at Bottega Louie in West Hollywood. Jennie had lunch at the LA one, and girl if you didn’t order the Tartufo pizza you missed out. If I want to take a month vacation from my employer without my employer following me I can, they can’t They can’t go date or hang out with different guys like most single girls in their 20’s can without starting a scandal. That’s just the way the K-POP world is. They know what they signed up for, but these girls are strong & talented and will come out on top at the end of the day. I recommend this film. Like they say in the film, they are looking forward to the next tour so they can be with the blinks in one room. I will be there.

Definitely one of the top ten films of my lifetime. A non traditional “they lived happily ever after or stay tune for the sequels Hollywood ending.” There isn’t going to be one like in real life. What these two people share is a connection at a time of confusion in their lives of “Where do I go from here?” This platonic relationship gives them the booster shot they need to hold their head up high and move forward with their lives. I was fortunate enough to have a couple of drinks at the New York bar inside The Park Hyatt in Tokyo a couple of weeks ago & could feel the magical atmosphere & gorgeous view of Tokyo at night from the 52nd floor. Sofia was a genius picking this hotel for filming. I doubt she could match the same result with any other hotel in the world. This movie spells out that no matter how successful like Bob is as an actor, or Charlotte who is married to her successful husband & she a graduate of Yale, enjoying exploring Japan, but both feeling with all their good fortune “Why does my life suck?.” The short answer is “that’s the way life is & all you can do is try to achieve as many small victories vs failures in your short lifetime as you can. A masterpiece from the director’s heart as well as the cast and crew. The use of non professional Japanese actors & ad libbing & the director having trust in the actors as well as her crews input led to a unreachable high level of success on this film that wasn’t planned or micro managed. It just happened.

In the movie “Lost in Translation” when Scarlett Johansson asks Bill Murray “what are you doing here?” His reply is “I’m doing a commercial for 2 million when I should be doing a play.” Well him and the rest of the actors as well as the crew are doing that play that has nothing to do with big money, but just being a part of a team/family atmosphere where ego’s are checked at the door & everyone is having fun, instead of the factory big budget smoke machine film where actors work in front of a blank white screen & zombies are digitally put in afterward. This is old style 80’s low budget horror filming making like the Fred Olen Ray 1983 film “Scalps” with a 15,000 dollar budget that was released theatrically that I was part of the crew, & have fond memories of which I’m positive most everyone on this film had. I give it 2 stars out of 5 instead of 1 because of Selena Gomez’s presence and acting in the film. Underdeveloped script and bad ending, so if you are a horror fan, and like the actors, and want to see old style filmmaking, than this film is for you. I walked away knowing the cast & crew got to work on a film that they got one off their bucket list of being on a project that had nothing to do with awards or being a masterpiece, but just having fun.
