This was a tour de force of coming of age stories. I was transported back to my own coming of age - where myself and millions of girls grapple with complexities of adolescence, tumultuous friendships, and individuation. There is no rulebook to life, and this film beautifully balances the morality and confusion that comes with becoming a woman in this world of cultural contrast, commercialized sexuality and the generational tension and miscommunication between families and upcoming generations. Cuties was a dance which balanced the movements of 'selfness' contrasting with familial fidelity, and emotional exploration. A lonely world for many where we carry cultural, societal, and physical pressures against the backdrop of our changing perspectives and intellect. I'm sorry that this film's critics cannot seem to understand anything beyond it's 'Netflix cover image.' It's depth resonates with very difficult and explorative years, a story which has been largely ignored in cinema. I'm very glad this exists.
