The second half was great but the first half left me wanting more. For a reimagining of one of the greatest Disney animated movies of all time this movie fell short. The dialogue fell flat. James Earl Jones, Beyoncé, and Donald Glover felt like they were just reading the script instead of bringing to life these characters that we’ve loved for so long. To me the biggest disappointment was the lack of emotion in Mufasa. It would’ve been better to just dub in his original performance from the animated movie. There were some high points. Timon and pumbaa were hilarious. Scar was as menacing as you would expect. And the songs hit you in the same feels that you would expect. Wish I would’ve waited to see this one on video.
