I congratulate Professor Shahjahan Khan, often known as a trend-setter in his professional area of expertise, for writing the book “Meta-Analysis: Methods for Health and Experimental Studies” at a time when it is needed the most. He has been remarkably successful in making ‘meta-analysis’ easy for researchers and other users – his main purpose of the book. In doing this, rather than focusing only on what is obvious he went deeper than the proximate elements to present the materials by a step-by-step approach using statistical models for various effect size measures.
The materials of the book have been organized quite meticulously. The author has successfully presented the complex statistical tools in a way that will hopefully ease the heavy lifting part of the reader significantly.
It is expected that the book will be extremely useful to researchers and policy makers in a variety of disciplines, such as, Epidemiology, Biology, Ecology, Biostatistics, and their ilk.
I applaud the author for having undertaken such a not-so-easy task .
