This was a mildly interesting book about a pretty ugly family. Since most of the men had the same name, it was a little hard to follow, and I'm still not sure who was who. I also don't understand why they included a chapter on Mary Astor, the actress, at the end of the book, since she took the name as a pseudonym but wasn't actually at all related to the Astor family.

I thought I'd like this Rom-Com because I love Meryl Streep and like the other actors, but they lost me when Meryl and Alec (or was it Steve) were sitting at a bar, getting drunker and drunker and laughing hysterically. This might have been about 1/2 hour in. The scene was so off-putting, stupid and silly, I stopped watching. Very disappointing.

I can't understand why this beautiful and absorbing presentation got such terrible reviews. I thought the close-up shots of the actors' moving expressions gave the play an intimacy that can't be duplicated on the stage. The dancing, music and settings were beautiful.
