As far as I can say, the first 45 minutes I played I was a little disappointed. The controls are a hybrid of old and new, drive by is still the same in III (I would tell you more about Vice City and San Andreas if I could play it), aiming is somehow worse than the original. I was not impressed it felt unfinished and a little underwhelming, you can make the argument that the original looked better (both for their time, and in comparison to this “definitive” version) at heart it doesn’t really feel like they put much effort in, in less than an hour, Claude clipped through 2 cars 3 car doors the draw distance and texture detail is good but that’s about it. However, when you look at it closely it feels like they didn’t even play their own game, and from what I’ve seen of players online and pictures from the other games San Andreas and Vice City didn’t fair well either. Regardless of how I felt about it initially, I wish I could say more, but as of 2:00 pm on the 11th of November no one on the PC platform has been able to launch or play the game they paid for. Rockstar is not being communicative at all, not vocal about the issues, and is being vague only mentioning “maintenance”. Why they opted to do that on launch day of a single player game that somehow requires you to be permanently online is beyond my understanding. At the time of writing this review; 7:30 pm 14th of November the Trilogy is still down, and gone from my Rockstar Games launcher. So if you bought the game the Rockstar Launcher doesn’t even show it. But rest assured they definitely took those 60 bucks immediately. Meanwhile everyone who legitimately purchased the game cannot play it. Rockstar is better than this and known for their detailed games but they hired a 3rd party (Grove Street Games) to handle their Crown Jewels and it shows that Rockstar is no longer the same company it was 20 years ago. The found the goose that lays the golden eggs and they don’t seem to be interested in doing anything else. They made nearly 1 billion dollars in 2020 on GTAV:O alone but they didn’t get the licensing to the iconic songs from VC and SA.
