A comedy has one job, be funny. This show is not good at its job.

This movie was just dying to reach for something but just doesn’t get there. The movie explores the cultural and race issues in the most superficial way possible. The dialogue seems forced. It is like some put in “script about racial and cultural tensions” into an AI program and this is what the program produced. Down to the “let’s hurry up and wrap this up” happy ending. Movies on race issues can be provocative, non-superficial, and funny. It just requires the writers not to be lazy.
