More like Star Trek meets Star Wars than the foundation.
Still found it entertaining and for about half an episode I was still really excited. What it isn't is an exploration of the evolution of history as the driving force of factors beyond normal human powers where everyone is playing a part as the product of their times. The true roles of religion, politics, science and mass groups of humans.
It is however a good commentary on our own time in a way that Star Trek was, and feels like an important milestone in some senses. I loved the casting and the acting. But the dialogue is heavy, and characters are nearly all two dimensional.
As a means of explaining the real meaning of the foundation series, the inevitability of the world, how the idea of great people making a difference is an illusion and things change in reality because of mass societal forces combined with science (or as in the case of the Mule, the supernatural), the series gets 1 star.
I gave it three because I think as a high budget star Wars meets Star Trek it was pretty entertaining.
