I purchased the game day-one for PS4 and played for about 30 hours before losing interest. Even from the beginning, there was a lot to like: the ability to explore a planet, hop in your ship and fly to space and then land on a new (procedurally generated) planet and biome was thrilling. But there wasn't enough to keep me around more than a couple of weeks.
After learning that the game was coming to VR, I snagged it during a sale and largely waited the 'Beyond' update dropped. I have put well over 100 hours into the game since then. The VR implementation is stellar (pun intended) - I'm playing on a wireless Vive Pro with Index Controllers. My computer is fairly beefy (if a few years old at this point): i7 8700k | 1080ti | 32 gb DDR4.
Anyway, tldr, I pretty much love this game. It's a game where you have to find your own fun, largely, and that fits my play-style perfectly. The addition of VR lets me live in this universe in a way I couldn't before. I recommend this game for VR enthusiasts and anyone looking to explore a melancholy universe full of weird sights.
