I don't mind the principle of the narrative - just don't tag it on to the MCU.. Make it a standalone....

I'm glad to see the vast majority of people thought this was a great movie, and so did I. Sure, you needed to persevere where it was alittle slow, but the ensemble acting is great, and the longer you watch, the more exciting it becomes. I thought it was really well lit and shot. Whether or not it would be actually possible to detect a craft in low earth orbit 'hiding in the infrared' with a laptop, a small reflector telescope and a couple of radio aerials doesn't matter. The premise holds the interest. Excellent.

I agree with these reviews. This is some of the greatest TV Sci Fi ever made - the imagination, creativity, and excellence of the screenplays the narratives, the pace, and the execution is absolutely of the highest possible calibre... I hate the word, but for once, I really have to say, it is truly awesome stuff...

It's by far the best of them all. I didn't like it when it was first aired, the title song is 'difficult', but watching again years afterwards, there are aspects to it that I prefer wholeheartedly to any of the other series. One is the sets. I really get the sense that I'm in a vehicle - it's as if I know where everything is in relation to everything else.. the art direction and styling is excellent; far more plausible than any other series. The ship itself external and internal is wonderful; all the pseudo tech is superb. The ensemble playing is as good as, if not better than 'Next Gen'. The Xindi arc is the best thing in any Start Trek series by far... In comparison to this series imho - 'Discovery' is glossy, retrograde nonsense.
