The trailer made it seem like something it's not. I thought we were going to see an *actual* showdown between Elvira (stepsister) and Cinderella. Also thought the ending would be different from the fairy tale considering this Cinderella ain't so squeaky clean, but another big fat nope.
I get where they were trying to go with it - Elvira has been so programmed by her mother to actually physically change herself for others that the first thing she thinks about is hacking at her own foot to fit the slipper. But, like, once she figured out it was Cinderella, she could have sidled up to the Prince and been like, "Yeah, ask her about the stable boy we fired a while back." That would have solved the Prince sitch.
I just feel that, even in desperation, one would think, "How am I going to cover the wound? How am I going to walk?" Even her mom accounted for healing time when doing the other procedures. This decision to go through with the hacking just makes Elvira look like a complete moron. Which, I mean, shouldn't surprise me cause she swallowed a tapeworm, but at least she had an antidote for that and a plan in mind.
Concept is neat, many scenes are eye-catching, the costumes are amazing. But the execution leaves something to be desired.
