I’ve read a lot of other reviews which were great and informative; thanks for being so detailed. I watched it today and I have to say I’m blown away. I don’t want to write so much because those interested in any of the folks associated with this movie should see it for themselves. It truly doesn’t seem like 3 and a half hours because you are so intrigued in this movie that the time doesn’t matter.
De Niro, Pacino, and Pesci.... all I need to say! They were all equally amazing to watch in their roles. Keitel, Romano and Cannavale were just as amazing. I agree with other reviews when they say it would have been nice to have been able to see more of them in their roles. I grew up in Philadelphia during the time some of this occurred and remember the facts of this movie from what was reported at the time. I’m not saying I knew any of the people portrayed, but I remember the news reports and supposed “word on the street” people would talk about in the city back then. I remember the day Angelo Bruno was assassinated; that is the guy Keitel portrayed. So watching this brought back a lot of memories of growing up. For that I thank Scorsese as well. A movie that holds a lot of nostalgia for me, aside from being one of the best movies I’ve ever seen... period. It’s for sure worth the time and hopefully not the last time we see these amazing people work together again.
