The battle cinematography was as intense as the first battle minutes of Saving Private Ryan. The movie likely could have used another hour to better explain and set up the tactics and strategy related to the battle. The original Midway does a better job of that. My recommendation, to anyone unfamiliar with Midway, watch the original Midway first. With that knowledge this movie will be better understood. See it, if for no other reason than to see movie technology.
