I wanted so much to like The School for Good and Evil. But the more I searched for character development and an engaging plot, the more disappointed I grew. It reminds me of a poor twist of Harry Potter. Phrases like “Boys ruin everything,” and “professor crackpot,” now where have I heard those before? The students of Good are supposed to be loving, noble, kind, virtuous and all that. But instead Beatrix and Tedros are at times stuck-up, shallow, malicious, and selfish. The plot is a sloppy hodgepodge of unconvincing turn of events that sidetrack the reader into boredom and frustration.
