D BD (Dicapord)

This is a movie made by old people about old people for old people. The main man has dementia and can't communicate. There are 3 other characters in the story introduced extremely slowly. The first is mute, the other 2 are ancient. The other 2 talk like boomers but very slowwwly while the main character always has dementia so nothing is really important. Not the kind of dementia where you can understand but can't speak. The kind where your understanding and speech are reverting to toddler brain. The other 2 characters are not much more intelligent. I hate movies where there are no intelligent characters making intelligent decisions that makes you root for them and be inspired by them. I hate movies that revolve around communication breakdowns. This is a somewhat unique communication breakdown dealing the decay of the brain, but it doesn't make it more interesting or less torturous. Holy yikes.

These movies were really cute and funny, want to give it 5 stars but it's pure entertainment. Grew up with Adam Sandler movies and this movie has that feel but a more relaxed and cute less adolescent feel. Nostalgic and great. Makes me really like Jennifer Aniston I was never that much of a fan but she's always seemed like a really nice person but seeing her humor shine through makes me appreciate her more. Chef kiss for a wind down chill out movie.

The trailer made it seem like it was not going to live up to the 2013 reboot at all. So that was my expectation. It was deliciously horrifying and a great time so while it exceeded my expectations and was so much better then the trailers made it seem like it would be, it also did not live up to the wild wackiness of the 2013 reboot. It relied on much more sensationalist gore than psychologically unexpected and unique angles. The 2013 one pushed the boundaries and wasn't "pc" at all, which really added to the humor and horror. Murderous demons would not care about taunting their victims through a politically correct filter, lol. And I'm not one of those anti pc people, if you look at my reviews, I could clearly be described as leftist, but I don't like when it messes up art and comedy, which it did, the comedy was much more generic and blah, there was much less interesting deaths and torture. The characters felt deeper and much more real in the previous movie even though they were supposed to be written as shallower. Kind of a miss but if you lower your expectations enough it's still an extremely entertaining movie.

I don't want to spoil it but I am obsessed with Joaquin's Phoenix movies and this one is absolutely wild. Love how they mix the horror from surreal dreams to his horrifying reality, not knowing which is which for a lot of it. I also love how humor breaks up the horror quite a bit where the absurdity of the horror and the surrealism stacks on top of each other humorously in interesting ways. I think there is a point to it, almost a pointedly similar message as Midsommar but from a completely different story and angle.

Think it was a good movie. Was kind of Hollywood cheesy but actually touched on an emotional subject about the divide and segregation of black and white people in America that was very relatable to me as someone whose been in a serious inter racial relationship from completely different upbringings, culture and class. Was a bit dissapointing for it to broach on the subject but reduce it to Hollywood story standards, the ending was lame. The racial climate in America seems to be white people who are facing class problems and are so disinterested in black peoples problems that they reduce their apathy to "this is bs, a political talking point that doesn't effect me so it doesn't matter" and pretend that systemic racism is not a contemporary problem. Racism does exist, but it has been proven that decades and generations of learned prejudice can be unlearned simply by exposure. My favorite example of this is the story of Daryl Davis, a black musician who single handedly got 200 KKK members to quit and denounce the klan just by befriending them individually. The truth is that the entire reason why it still exists is because our culture is so segregated and thus so freaked out by the "other" culture that is so unfamiliar to them that it wasn't unlearned, just due to a lack of exposure. The people that run the country use the lesson that division causes fear and prejudice and easily exploitable hate over and over again, but it doesn't seem like the people they exploit with these strategies will get the message in my lifetime. In reality this story usually doesn't have a cheesy Hollywood happy ending. It's all good when you're empathizing and curious and in love with someone from such a different culture, but once society comes into the picture it will often kill the relationship.

Can't believe I never saw this remake. I'm disturbed that I'm going to watch it again a second day in a row while I still have the digital rental but it's that good. Remakes rarely ever capture the original essence of their inspiration, but this really does it. Feels like a real classic. The last time zombies were so claustrophobic and personalized was the original in my opinion, so it's a real achievement.

Pretty good. I think the point is that society enables men's infantile nature resulting in "the patriarchy" and that this is something that women should be encouraged to reject. Like a woman shouldn't settle for a man who is acts like a child, unless she's into that. I feel like the films depiction of the infantile men also fits the description of the salty boys that have a problem with this message that trump has enabled which is kind of hilarious. They are sad about being evolved out and it's a last angry incel baby whine lmao.

Iv watched this move twice by myself (rented it) and now watching it with my mom on hbo max. It's very well done, very emotional, tied to real life events. The movie is all about in my opinion making tragic mistakes, and rekindling hope and excitement from a deep depression. Also salvation and resurrection from deep despair and guilt. In this movie the scenarios for this are extreme, but that theme is relatable to smaller more realistic extents. Despite what others have said I think the plot is driving. The character development and flaws until the end that ripple in a butterfly effect mixed with the main characters amazing acting really lead me to introspection. I find myself analyzing/pondering things he could have done differently that also apply to real life in more normal circumstances. It also leads me to empathy in ways that I haven't thought of before. Honestly I kind of like how it is falsely advertised as a glamorous card counting movie and then throws you into a brutal but truthful sociological critique of America. It's like the director wants to spread the message to normal consumers who wouldn't seek it out. It's an activist movie that isn't woke or partisan, the political issues it tackles go beyond partisanship. It tackles issues that are not controversial beyond being upset that a night of mindless entertainment surprisingly got uncomfortably real.
