I can't believe I spent money on this horrible remake with my daughter.
This doesn't stay true to the Little Mermaid and its historical setting of Scandinavia or Greece (if people want to do a debate).
Further problems with the movie:
1) The changes to the characters and their relationships.
The remake makes some significant changes to the characters and their relationships, which many fans found jarring.
For example, Ariel's father, King Triton, is much more sympathetic in the remake than in the original, and he even sings a song about how much he loves his daughter.
Additionally, the relationship between Ariel and Prince Eric is developed more in the remake, and they have more scenes together. While these changes may have been well-intentioned, they ultimately felt unnecessary and detracted from the original story.
2) The lack of musical numbers.
One of the most beloved aspects of the original Little Mermaid is its iconic soundtrack, which features songs like "Under the Sea" and "Part of Your World."
However, the remake only features a handful of musical numbers, and some of the most popular songs from the original are missing. Seriously?
3) The CGI.
The CGI in the remake is often criticized for being too cartoonish and unrealistic. While the underwater scenes are visually stunning, the land scenes often look fake and out of place. This was a major issue for me, as I felt that the remake didn't capture the magic of the original film.
Also, I have beef with how they messed up Scuttle. Why?
This movie is a 0/10.
