I’m gonna start off by saying that I have never seen the original Danish movie and I know that a lot of people are hating on this remake because of how much they enjoyed/loved the original and from experience with remakes I can understand why, personally tho I never even heard of “The Guilty” until this Netflix version was made so my opinion is obviously going to be on this version…
So Jake Gyllenhaal was amazing just as usual I was not expecting anything less from him and the fact that this whole movie was just him/his character in a 911 Call Centre the whole movie and he still manages to keep us attached throughout shows that his acting skills are next level! This movie was very well written, It done a great job in showing how emotional and Broken Joe (Gyllenhaal) was and I really like the Quote at the end “Broken People Save Broken People” it just shows that this was the whole point, Joe saving Emily and her family showed him who he really was and that he had to be true with himself which is why at the end he decides to tell the truth in court because it’s the right thing to do he knew he had done wrong and had to face the consequences, Also the plot twist at the end where you find out Henry (who has been made out to be a kidnapper/killer throughout the film) turns out to be the victim was so meticulous and for me definitely one of the most emotional parts of the film very good acting from Peter Sarsgaard as Henry by the way. The casting overall was very well chosen too I had no clue Ethan Hawke was in it until the credits that was a shock for me haha
Overall this film was very Intense, Suspenseful and Heart wrenching. It had a Decent soundtrack which really suited the movie, Great Cinematography, Phenomenal Acting and it just shows that you don’t need a higher budget to create a good movie, this film was created in about 11 days I think I read and had a low budget and I would happily say it was better than a lot of other very high budget movies this year, two examples being Fast and Furious 9 and Hitmans Bodyguards Wife.
I would highly recommend watching this!
