I keep seeing horrible reviews for this movie but I loved it. It’s visually beautiful, a little creepy but not too scary for kids. But I saw without mine and loved it so much. Even my fiancé who normally doesn’t like these movies really liked this.
Spoilers!
-I loved that Clara’s mom was a genius and kind and wonderful.
-The opening sequence was so fun. And introduced a girl who loves physics and engineering. I was not expecting that from this movie!
-The “smart” sister and the “pretty” sister aren’t pitted against each other. They clearly love each other even though they have different interests.
- Morgan freeman as the grandfather is so wonderful.
- I really liked the plot. There were things I wasn’t expecting. Which, it’s a kids movie based on a story everyone has heard - I wasn’t expecting it to be ground breaking but I was pleasantly surprised by this retelling. It was really well done.
-The Fantasia call out before the dance sequence was such a little surprise moment of pure joy for me.
- Misty Copeland’s dancing was so beautiful, the sequence was so well done - it was mesmerizing.
Honestly, if you are looking for a fun holiday movie for the Thanksgiving weekend, go it see this. We’re planning to go again.
