As a Disney fanboy, I regret watching the new dumbo. It’s not just sour grapes and pining for the “good ol’ Days “ either! No, no! This is a movie that didn’t need to be made unless there was something it could contribute and this didn’t. The story was too quick footed to let us attach to any one character. And the charm of the animals helping each other is missing altogether. The movie tells a “realistic” version of the original Disney tale. The uncanny valley was never achieved in the CGI characters and I was almost laughing at the mismatch of realism and the main thrust of the story- elephants flying! I would give it a score of ..... “not worst”. But close. Winnie the Pooh got that award.
