Walked out half way through film, an hour of my life I’ll never get back. Portrayal of Diana in this is absolutely shocking. Having watched Naomi Watts and the Crown version of Diana both of these portrayed Diana in such true way. This film however has done nothing but put a massive damper on Diana’s legacy.
The acting is awful, as much as I like Kristen Stewart as an actress she cannot play Diana nor put on an English accent, I found her deep tone did not change throughout the hour that I endured. Diana was not shown to have any form of personality other than that of torment.
The royal family besides the children had no personalities and I found to be very robotic, just seemed all round strange! The royal family are known to be a close, loving family unit and this was not shown at all.
The final straw for me was when Diana had another vision of Anne Boleyn whilst repeatedly comparing herself to her.
The costumes and scenery were the only good points of the film. However the historical accuracy was completely wrong, why was it made out that Diana’s father was dead at this point?
This film seems to draw enthasis of the royal family’s hatred of Diana and visa versa. Which may or not be true. I think that both Diana and the royal family are shown in a very unfair light. Diana was shown as being very rude to staff, and staff were shown as being critics to everything Diana did, why did a random member of staff complain that Diana was not wearing the correct piece of clothing one day? Why would that be so important to them and how would anyone besides her seamstress know her dressing schedule? Why was the new Page for Sandringham loitering around in the middle of the night watching Diana in the kitchen?
If you are trying to to make a storyline more cinematic and explosive, please do not use somebody’s life, especially somebody that was adored so much, she was a real person, not somebody who’s life can be altered and changed to fit into film.
Absolutely the worst film I have seen in a long time.
