This book is a pain to read, not in the same sense of James Joyce's Ulysses. It's a pain because of the repetitive word structures. The book has no rhythm and I am only at page 133. Between page 133 and 1, I have taken almost half a year, making me wonder how long will it take to finish. I went through Proust Vol 1 in 2 months. So that's for comparison. Murakami should've just sticked to writing in Japanese and then have it translated to English, since most of the things he'd like to convey must have been lost in immaturely written unskilled English prose. A book must not be forced either. I read an article about Murakami forcing himself to write something like 10 pages a day and then going on a 10km run. He must be one of those quirky half retards.
If you noticed my repetitive word structure, imagine reading that 5-10 times within 2-3 pages. Will you like that?
"It's not that... But..." That's Murakami's retarded English. Just stick to writing in Japanese, you Japanese half-retard!
