While this adaptation differs wildly from the book, it is still intriguing and highly watchable. Don’t expect it to follow closely to the source material. I think a good adaptation either has to be a faithful mirroring of the book, or markedly different. Anything in between will disappoint. This telling of the story of a reluctant time traveler and the woman who has known him since she was 6 years old gives you the gist of their difficulties while allowing them to have a compelling romance.
Rose Leslie and Thei James are much better cast than the movie version.
Critics seem to hate it - but viewers love it. It’s clear it won’t wrap up the story with one episode left - so I am hopeful for another season.
