Does poor job of character development. A story should make you feel something, anything, for the characters but I came away feeling nothing for them, not even whether they lived or died. The costumes, and special effects are the only creative things about this slog of a movie.

I found the effort to harmonize the inaccuracies surrounding the wise men with the Biblical text disappointing. No where in the Bible is the number and names of the wise men given. Plus the record indicates that Jesus was about 2 years old when the wise men came to visit, hence Herod’s murder of males 2 years old and younger. I have no problem with dramatic license with historical stories, but it is distracting to see legendary characters like “the Three Wise Men” interwoven into the Biblical narrative.
