I'm seeing a lot of really good reviews for this movie and no one mentioning any constructive or honest criticisms.
I've only just discovered Jane Austen and have loved her books so far. I started with Pride and Prejudice out of curiosity and enjoyed it, she takes time devoloping her characters, the storyline and molding the readers view/relation with the characters. She's also extremely impressive considering how much she subtly touches on socio-economic issues while living in the 1700s. The 2005 film done an amazing job sticking close to the novel and also keeping the integrity and innocence of Austen's original work.
However, having only watched the first 10-15 minutes of this new adaptation of Emma, a book I thoroughly enjoyed and wish I could read again for the first time, my observation is that in an effort to seem progressive and current, the production team took some liberties that were distasteful and unnecessary to say the least. I do not have to see peoples gluteus maximus to understand that they can afford to be dressed by someone else.
Apart from that, I love all the colours and the videography is great. I'll be back after watching the entire movie, I need time to accept that I will be seeing someone's buttocks :(

Was finally able to watch the entire movie. It's amazing, the actors depicted Jane's characters so well. I without my 5th star because I feel this movie was overly and unnecessarily sexially charged, I believe that is from being so heavily influenced by 21st century ideologies and imagination of the 18th century.
