I was very hopeful that this show would be something I could fall in love with even if it had modern spin.
Like many, I love Downton Abbey. I like the Gilded Age. I am up for anything Jane Austin. I even love Bridgerton. My appetite for a period drama is easily satisfied.
This show is none of those things. It’s obnoxious.

Thank you for the 2hr and 21min commentary on how technology will destroy us. Ethan Hawk’s character states, “I can barely do anything without my cell phone and my GPS. I am a useless man.” Yep, we got it.

I thought this would be frightening and suspenseful. It was not. It took a long time to get where is was going. Probably could have been accomplished with 1/3 of the words.

It wants to be better than it is. The dialogue is, at times, painful to listen to. It’s like they are reading directly from the script. I love the genre and am committed to the idea that it’s a slow starter. I’ll give it more time.

I know the cheesy nature of this movie is intentional, but it reminded me of a season of American Horror Story and I think this Director is better than that.
