I bought this book and finished reading it in one day. Sara Ackerman's with her ability to draw me along with her style of writing has me eager to read all her books. It was as if I was living this story in real time.
I remember Dec.7, 1941, as I was 7 years old, and very aware of the adults around me and their personal reactions to that news, and then living what we could do as our part during the war years. As a young girl I was part of the USO in Indianapolis, Indiana, singing the songs of the services and songs of patriotism and hope for the future, to our servicemen.
