This show is astoundingly funny and intelligent. The premise is hysterical, and it address large concepts in an extremely contextualized and matter-of-fact style. Never have I seen teen sexuality depicted as openly. The female leads do NOT lead with their own sexuality,(a la "Sex in the City") but with an expressive openness that is not only hysterically funny, but full of joy. I have never in my life seen a show address: racism, sisterhood, southern womanhood, gun ownership, sexuality, and self-esteem, with such light-handed honesty that fits naturally into the arc of the story! Besides this, the casting is deft and inspired.
