A very disjointed story -Nothing hung together -And I really took umbrage with the roles played by all the males. It painted them all with a broad swath of disdain for their maleness. Labelling all as being either manipulative predators/ having anger issues or the polarized opposite - being ineffectual.
The writers dabbled with sexuality using same sex as a viable alternative to emotional abandonment. This came up wanting.
The end seemed contrived and lacked integrity. Ember was neither the spider of the web-which she did not know existed/ nor was she the victim-nor was she the heroine. She was a young woman -manipulated by society to play roles she knew nothing about and she had lived a Mother Daughter experience that had given her no grounding. She was scattered emotionally. Her husband had been a manipulative narcissist-abuser of underage girls-druggie-who died young of cancer and had a following then for his finale- wore the mask of caring Dad/protector. The ending three women scattering Dads ashes -was a tribute to what????Survival???
